This
was the first picture I saw of Yarka's. I was a guest lecturer at a college
photojournalism class, and was viewing their projects.
I saw "A Day With My
Dog," "How Neon Signs Are Made," "A Day with My
Child," and so on. All forgettable.
And then came Yarka. She had spent
two weeks with a hospice nurse, visiting dying patients. I was amazed that a
relative novice would even attempt such a story. I was very moved by her
pictures, especially this one, which shows the weariness and compassion of a
very special nurse.
